Marble Mental Community Guidelines
This forum is intended for discussions pertaining to marble collecting. Comments and topics are encouraged for both vintage and contemporary marbles. This board welcomes seasoned collectors, those who wish to collect, and anyone wanting to know more about marbles.
In this spirit, we ask that you adhere to the following Community Guidelines. By using Marble Mental (including all forums, chat rooms, and PMs), you agree to these Rules of Conduct. Please read them carefully. These rules are meant to ensure a community that is considerate and respectful to all members. It is our goal to permit posts and discussions that do not lead to harm to the community or detract from its purpose.
Positive Posting:
~~Marble related topics are encouraged since this is the basis of our community.
~~Off topic items that are of general interest to the membership may be posted as long as they are designated “OT” in the title line.
~~Links to topics on other marble discussion boards are allowed as long as the subject matter in the linked topic adheres to these Rules of Conduct.
~~Links to eBay or other off-site sales are allowed as long as they are clearly identified as such in the title line.
Contests and Swaps:
~~Any member may run a contest or swap. Please e-mail the Administrator with the details prior to posting. Threads may be “pinned” to the top for greater exposure.
~~Anyone participating in a contest or swap does so at his or her own risk. The Marble Mental Administrator or Moderators are not responsible for items lost in the mail or never received. Any disputes should be handled off the board between members.
Horse Traden' Forum/Items for Sale or Trade:
~~Members may list auction items or items for direct sale or trade. Wanted items or "wish lists" may also be posted.
~~Plugs for auctions will be deleted once the auction closes.
~~If the items in the thread are sold, the seller should edit the title to indicate SOLD. Threads will then be deleted. However, the moderators may choose to keep a thread if it contains discussion that may be informative to members.
~~Any transactions resulting from a post placed on Marble Mental are between seller and purchaser or trading partners. Always use caution when exchanging funds or personal information. The Marble Mental Administrator or Moderators are not responsible for items/money lost in the mail or never received. Any disputes should be handled off the board between members.
Privacy:
~~Do not post personal information about any other board member including, but not limited to, last names, addresses, phone numbers, or e-mail addresses.
~~Do not post private e-mails, ezInbox contents, PMs, or any other personal written or electronic communication unless all parties post their consent to use such material in the thread.
~~Do not make a post impersonating another member.
~~The Administrator and Moderators will not share personal e-mail addresses with members. If you wish to contact a member, but do not have an e-mail address, we will be happy to forward an e-mail to them for you. We, however, may not always have access to all members e-mail addresses as this information is not maintained on ezBoard.
~~You should always exercise judgment when revealing personal information about yourself when you post messages in public forums.
Don’t Post Angry
~~Read your post twice before hitting submit. If there’s any anger in it, don’t post it. Read it, keeping in mind you have an audience of people you respect and who respect you.
~~Words/terms (even with altered spellings) that are used to convey hostility toward other Forum members are prohibited. Personal attacks cannot be tolerated. Challenge ideas, not fellow members.
~~Realize that you can be held legally accountable for claims you make including libel, harassment, and other illegal behaviors. Realize you are accountable for your own posts; Marble Mental is not.
Prohibited Material/Discussions:
~~We respectfully ask that you keep posts on controversial topics such as the rightness or wrongness of: Abortion, Religion, Capital punishment, Gun control, Legalization of drugs, etc. off the board.
~~The use of inappropriate or offensive language is not permitted. Inappropriate or offensive language includes, but is not limited to, any language or content that is sexually oriented, sexually suggestive or abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, or that contains racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable material of any kind. It's also inappropriate, of course, to introduce inappropriate language to the Forum via images or links. We ask that you please be considerate to other members in the forums when posting your messages.
~~No nudity, semi-nudity, or sexual images or film clips. No images that would be shocking or offensive because of the content. If you want that kind of content, there are lots of places on the Internet to find it, but Marble Mental will not be one of them. If you have to ask whether something qualifies, then it is probably better not to post it! Moderators will err on the side of caution.
Action Taken by Marble Mental:
~~Removing or “banning” users is something that is rarely done but may be necessary in order to foster the type of open, friendly community that encourages posting and the free sharing of ideas and that discourages abuse or rudeness. Anyone who refuses to abide by the rules of the site will tend to result in being removed. Luckily, most Marble Mental members are respectful and courteous to others.
~~If a decision is made to remove or edit a post or thread due to a violation of the Rules of Conduct, we will also remove or edit all follow-up posts or threads that reference the post in question. If a post is removed or edited, an explanation will be sent via the ezInbox.
~~Spam and other behaviors deemed particularly injurious to the community will often lead to immediate removal without notice.
~~We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access to any part of these forums at any time. It is not necessary to be a repeat offender to be removed.
Anyone with suggestions or feedback on these guidelines can e-mail the administrator through the link at the top of the forum pages or start a thread here. Most of all, please have fun!
