What exactly is the significance of the blue color in peppermint marbles? This one looks pretty minty (HA!) to me. ( : |

Good question, Bob. You are correct, peppermint is red and white. Anyone know the history of the naming of peppermint marbles?

What!!!?
I was counting on you!  What's funny to me is that the blue doesn't really seem 'wrong' visually. I've looked at peppermints occasionally for several years now and never thought about the blue. But it would be interesting if their were some significant reasons why it's 'right'. Modern marketing people have sometimes used a bluish concept with peppermint products, such as flavors along the lines of "cool blue peppermint", but to the best of my experience that's relatively recent, and often has more to do with the coloring of the packaging than the product itself. I guess we'll see if it rings a bell with anyone! ( : |

I think that in the very early 1900's they had a patriotic name. No idea when it changed to a candy name. Or whether both were in use concurrently.
