Hi all!!! If memory serves me correctly, I believe I was the lucky purchaser of your nine vane Ron. I will have to go have a look.
I recently moved my marble collection as my husband had to jack up the floor in the room where they were stored. We wondered what was up with the floor and why the doors wouldn't close right. Well we found out when he went under the house. -- Marbles sure are heavy huh? Great catseyes everyone! |

The beauty of the Vitro hybrid cats is so underrated. Especially when you find them with five or six colors:
Here are two recent acquisitions in shooter size: Elizabeth |

Elizabeth, it would be impossible to agree with you more about Vitro Hybrid Cat's...neat shooter acquisitions!
Here are a few greta shooters as well...not new arrivals...been here for a year or three. Ron |

Steve, those are some nice ones...thanks for keeping this cat purrin'.
IMO, the purple-vaned ones are not that hard to find but with much less frequency...MK has mass produced some modern purple vaners that sort of make them seem less scarce...now, if you can find purple-vaned Peltier bananas you have some harder to find ones, I think...and some of the older 'black' cats are fun finds...the more 'black' the vanes seem the better to me...some say all black vanes are simply really dark purple vanes but the really really dark ones of some age are the cat's meow here...Bogart and Sons have some very neat ones in dark purple or 'black' and combine that with the internal bubbly bizzard effect seen on some then you have seltzer bombs in 'black.'...just an opinion. I tend to love the various shades of purple in all marbles, though. Ron |

Re: Cat's alive! | #37 | ||

We tend to lump all "black" cat's eyes together, but in my non-scientific population sampling study of them, I've classified them into about 13 different types. I've made the classifications based on vane color (while most are dark purple, some are actually dark navy blue); vane configuration (3 vane, 4 vane, banana-like); and base glass (tint; clarity; bubblosity); and presence/absence of aventurine. Come to think of it, I think there may be more than 13 types, they just all started looking alike by the time I reached 13.
