Nice 'uns, Marlee! That first one looks like one of the Vitro 5-vaned hybrids which resemble the meat layers of an oyster or clam and are so much fun to find...yummmmmmy!

Marrrlee and Ron = grand absolutely grand!
Here are 2 more The first one is "my" Latticinio Vitro catseye  (Images don't do this marble justice!~) I'm looking for a new camera but do like my new lighting set up. (Not so many light reflection spots on the marble.) I have shown this one before but not on this thread. I believe it to be a Vitro. It is pretty fancy, "in my book". I had 2 of these. Liz has the other one. |

OK, Patry, I have to ask the question in everyone's mind: WHERE do you get all these stunningly beautiful and unusual marbles? Ebay? Shows? Private buys?
And another question, is that aventurine sparkling in there with the purple vanes in that one marble? Just gorgeous. |

Well = anywhere I can find them  Back when most were frowning on machine made marbles and what was even worse, catseye marbles, I was collecting them, cheaply, at shows. I haven't been able to attend a show in over 3 years due to MS problems. So, now I depend on friends, internet, eBay, trades and whatever other means I can = to find 'em. (It continues to boggle my mind that there are marbles that I don't have one like = LOL) Always pleased to find unusual machine made marbles. Have usually tried to stay ahead of trends = not always though  "And another question, is that aventurine sparkling in there with the purple vanes in that one marble? Just gorgeous." = TX Nope, that is strange, coppery colored, mottled metallic etched in (black = dark purple) and also there is a silver streak of metallic on it. Here is a close-up of that area. Does this help? |

Here are 2 bloodish banana's. They have aventurine in 'em too. The aventurine is in the, "bloodish" glass.
The 4 are oxishy catseye marbles. All measure 5/8". I made up some of my own words to help describe them because of the, "oxblood and bloody", purists. The last one has aventurine and oxish too. It's stripey all over with aqua, green with aventurine and the oxish lines. It has 5 vanes. Two of which are sort of connected = not totally separate.  |

Wow! I thought I was making a wide swath by collecting "cats" for the last 15 years of so and I do have some nice ones, but seeing all these beautiful cats kind of makes me want to hide my collection as I don't have anything to match most of the posted ones here in this thread. ----Leroy----

It is always amazing how the 'lowly cat' can generate such positive input, such joy and fun within the community...sledom do we hear a disparaging word about them...cat's illicit big grins and positivity for those of us who truly see their beauty and appreciate their allure regardless of monetary value or lack thereof which seems to prove to me at least that 'beauty IS within the eye of the beholder'...maybe, the only controversy surrounding cateyes is their place of importance in the mib mix...sadly, I pity those who do not 'see' and maybe, just maybe their cat-blinders are more dollar and cent oriented than the reality of the kitties true status among we seers...cat's do rock!
